Donna M. Inman, LPN, is a well-versed Licensed Practical Nurse who has recently retired from Sitka Community Hospital in Sitka, Alaska, where she arrived in 2003 as a travel nurse. She discovered she loved living in Southeast Alaska and decided to access a night position in Long Term Care in order to remain on the island. Donna additionally helped in the Emergency Room, Obstetrics, and Acute Care when needed. “A day position in LTC opened and I accepted. My Long-Term Care Residents became my love and passion. Caring for and meeting their medical and physical, emotional, and social needs by listening and being supportive. This includes developing a trusting relationship with their loved ones”, says Donna. She has an impressive professional journey spanning fifty-three years and her areas of expertise cover all facets of long term care, education, and dementia care. Donna continues to engage in local precepting for LTC personnel at Sitka Community Hospital. She has enjoyed a varied, exciting, and fulfilling career and has been licensed in nine states, including Illinois (nursery, pediatrics, medical/surgical nursing, intensive care), Colorado (pediatrics), Alabama (pre-employment physicals, injuries, and safety program), Arizona (private duty, intensive care, burn unit nursing), Texas (operating room-general surgery, neurology, cardiology, nephrology, and orthopedics), Indiana (working with patients with disabilities), Idaho (operating room, medical/surgical, emergency room, and obstetrics nursing), Montana (camp nurse), and Alaska (emergency room, acute care, obstetrical nursing, and long-term care).
